Mount Royal is Calgary's most central, premier executive neighbourhood, situated on a hill approximately 1.2 miles from the downtown business core. The area, designed by the Olmstead brothers of Brookline Massachusetts, features curving streets, mature trees and a significant number of very large lots. Mount Royal contains some of Calgary's most expensive properties which range in age from over 100 years old to newly redeveloped properties. Many properties in the upper portion of Mount Royal with higher elevations offer views of the city skyline. To the north Mount Royal is bordered by 17th Avenue, a street filled with restaurants, shops and other amenities where pedestrians are found throughout the spring, summer and fall. The area adjacent to 17th Avenue is lower in elevation and would include many beautiful condominiums and town homes.
